Mel Alcock, iCrossing UK

Mel Alcock is Chief Client Officer in the UK and is responsible for the delivery of all commercial revenues across the business. In such a role, having the belief in your staff and the i-Crossing offering is a must-have. He comments, "More than ever this is all about trust, as today's brands recognize that their customer dialogues have to be based on trust so do we strive to create relationships with clients that are built from the same values. Digital may have handed the power to the consumer but in turn that onus has also shifted to companies that supply services to those brands. Without trust you can't create connected brands." He works closely with iCrossing U.S. and Europe to develop the group's global commercial strategy and also manages new business acquisitions as well as client retention and profitability. Mel joined iCrossing from Disney's Jetix Europe, where he was Senior Vice President of Commercial Affairs; directing development and maintenance of all commercial revenues across the business. Whilst at Jetix Mel set up the Jetix Digital Media Group that placed Jetix's 18 Pan European web sites at the heart of the Broadcasters offering. Media Week magazine featured Mel as one of the UK Media Scenes Top One Hundred "Movers and Shakers" in 2005.His passion for interactive media and converging technologies started at Flextech (Virgin Media) where as General Manger he developed and launched Screenshop, the UK's first Home Shopping TV Channel. As Head of Commerce for Interactive Programming at BSkyB, Mel led the strategic and commercial direction for Sky Active launching numerous consumer facing offerings such as the Multi Screen Applications, Sky Gamestar, Sky Mobile, Sky Buy and the globally renowned Sky Bet. Mel started his career in advertising at Foote Cone and Belding Ltd as a media planner buyer and later went on to media account director at the Media Independent Austin West Media Ltd.Mel holds a Law degree from Canterbury University and an MPhil in Criminology from Queens College Cambridge.
